Preparing for the BEM remotely: our method
0 failures at the BEM since we opened. Behind that figure is a preparation that starts early: syllabus covered ahead of time, regular mock exams, individual follow-up for every student.

The BEM, the Algerian middle-school diploma, is the first official examination in the school career of a student on the Algerian Programme — and for many families studying at a distance, a legitimate source of worry: can a national examination really be prepared for from home? Our results answer that: 100% pass rate, 0 failures since we opened. Here is the method behind them.
Cover the syllabus early — do not finish just in time
Most examination failures do not come from the difficulty of the papers, but from a syllabus finished too late, in a rush, with no time left to revise. Our 4AM calendar is built backwards: we start from the examination date and work back. The syllabus is covered several weeks ahead, and those weeks are given over entirely to revision and past papers.
Mock exams: practising in real conditions
Knowing the material and passing a paper are two different skills. The second one has to be trained:
- Regular mock exams throughout the year, under exam conditions — real duration, no notes, no help.
- Detailed marking, paper by paper, showing the student where the marks are lost: reading the instructions too quickly, managing time, writing up.
- Progress measured from one mock to the next, and shared with parents.
A student who has already lived through exam conditions ten times is not taken by surprise on the day. Stress falls when the unknown disappears.
An examination is not passed on the day of the examination. It is passed in the months before it.
Individual follow-up, because an average hides everything
An average of 12 can hide a 16 in language and an 8 in mathematics. At a distance as much as in person, the danger is thinking in averages. Our follow-up looks subject by subject, idea by idea: every 4AM student has their weak points identified early in the year and worked on specifically — not drowned in general revision.
Our classes of no more than 10 students are not a selling point: they are the condition that makes this follow-up possible. A teacher cannot know the weak points of every student in an overcrowded class. In a class of 10, they can — and they do.
The parents’ role in the BEM year
Your part is simple and essential: a steady framework at home — sleep, hours, a place to work — and pressure kept in check. A 4AM student does not need reminding every day how important the examination is; they need to feel that home is a calm place where regular effort is enough. The method does the rest.
